Who is eligible?
Landfills that are not required by NSPS or any state or local regulations to collect gases may receive credits for methane collection and combustion. Additional credits may be available for renewable electricity or thermal energy production. In most cases, gas collection systems must have started service after January 1, 1999, and qualifying projects can earn offsets during the years 2003 to 2010.
How does it work?
We at ECC evaluate your operation and give you a proposal explaining how much your landfill could earn from carbon credits. Once you decide to partner with us, we manage the entire process, including installation, data monitoring, reporting, independent verification, certification, and registration with the Chicago Climate Exchange or other registries.
